“When I start building up the enlarged form with coils, I can be rather impatient. I built it up roughly, without taking proper care of the surface. The general shape is right, but it looks a mess! I feel the pressure of time, and worldly demands and preoccupations keep playing in the back of my mind. The work does not always get my full attention. At times I feel disconnected from the work. However, after a while—it can take several days and sometimes conscious effort and emotional struggle—my mind slows down and my hands take over…”*
